Buffer Management

The 3R – Recharge, Retention & Reuse – approach gained over the past years significance and momentum as collection of techniques and best practices in tackling water and food security. At the core of 3R is the buffer function provided by the integrated management and storage of water in surface reservoirs, soil profiles and deeper underground. Water buffer management provides local achievable solutions that improve the resilience of people and if implemented at scale it improves food security, income generation and social and environmental welfare.
