We are pleased to announce that as of March 2024 MetaMeta joins the GOPA Group, one of Europe’s largest providers of international development services. It will become part of GOPA AFC headquartered in Bonn, Germany. MetaMeta brings in more than 20 years of international water and climate expertise complementing GOPA AFC’s global experience in agriculture and financial sector development. This significant move further strengthens the portfolio of the GOPA Consulting Group and strongly aligns with GOPA AFC's ongoing growth and unwavering commitment to top-tier service over 50 years.
Based in Wageningen, the Netherlands, MetaMeta is a thought leader in many dimensions of water, agriculture, environment and green infrastructure. Its service offering combines research, innovation, policy development and programme implementation. MetaMeta has a dynamic team of 40 staff with offices in several countries, including its branch offices in Ethiopia and Yemen.
The synergies and complementarities between MetaMeta and GOPA AFC provide a great opportunity to consolidate our presence and sharpen our positioning in the integrated areas of water, climate and agriculture.
As part of this transition Marc van der Stouwe takes over the role of Managing Director of MetaMeta. Until December 2023, Marc was the Managing Director of Mott MacDonald Euroconsult and Global Sector Leader International Development for the global Mott MacDonald Group. We wish Marc success in his new role.
We are also pleased to announce that Frank van Steenbergen, the founder and owner of MetaMeta, who has led MetaMeta to become the strong and internationally recognized organisation it is today, will continue to be fully involved in MetaMeta’s work in the coming years.
