Our team understands how to embed its technical advice in the systems and cultures of the countries where we work. Key countries of operation include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya and Yemen.
We serve a broad range of clients, including the Netherlands Government, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, UN organisations and various research funds, including the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
Since early 2024, MetaMeta is part of the GOPA Consulting Group from Germany, which is one of the largest international development organisations in Europe. MetaMeta’s water and land management expertise complements the broad sectoral expertise existing within the wider GOPA Group.

Project Controller
(reporting to our Finance Manager)
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Establish, monitor and analyse project budgets
  • Monitor project results vis-a-vis budgets and planning
  • Identify project risks and propose mitigation measures
  • Prepare periodic project progress reports
  • Be the point of contact for financial matters towards project managers and MetaMeta leadership
  • Check and approve contracts, purchase orders and project-related invoices
  • Prepare and submit invoices to clients, in close collaboration with project managers
  • Provide high quality and timely administrative support to our projects
  • Coordinate and guide project audits
  • Review and provide inputs to financial proposals during tender processes
Job requirements:
We are looking for a curious, enthusiastic and inspired early career professional who:
  • Has completed a Bachelor degree (HBO) in business economics, finance and accounting, or similar
  • Has some relevant work experience in a similar professional environment, preferably within a project-based environment
  • Has accounting experience using various finance and accounting tools (including ERP systems and MS Excel)
  • Is pro-active, solution-oriented and has a good eye for detail
  • Is a strong communicator and gets energy from collaborating with others
  • Works well under pressure, is ‘hands on’ and has a good sense of humour
  • Has a good command of Dutch and English language
  • Is enthusiastic about working for an organisation with a strong social purpose and is interested in what happens in other parts of the world
  • Loves being surrounded by colleagues from a wide range of different countries
